Inspired by the song called “Río Abajo” (“River Below” in English) by artist Ana Tijoux.

The painting “Hija de la Tierra” (“Daughter of the Earth” in English) is a piece that speaks to the humble, quiet, yet powerful strength of the connection between nature and humans.

In recent decades, we have furthered ourselves from the recognition and appreciation of this connection, but lots of us still have moments of awe and pure gratitude for the natural world.

Like a river below, when you access it, you feel yourself being lovingly pulled downstream, caressed by the movement of life. It is safe, calming… it is like coming home to a soft, warm embrace of your mother’s arms after surviving a treacherous journey in a storm. It is a connection that runs deep, it is ancient, strong, serene, and nurturing. It is why time spent in nature is so important for the health of our souls, minds, and bodies.

This painting is about accessing that connection, feeling it, embracing it, and appreciating it.
